Strongman Style HIIT: Build a Badass

You’ve never experienced a fitness class quite like this.

We’ve combined all of the benefits of HIIT with the functional strength of Strongman into one class and we’re calling it Build a Badass.

The class starts with a calisthenics-based warmup, with movements sequenced to prepare you for the workout to come. Then we take a brief intermission to offer you technical tips on the Strongman Implements of the day.

From there, the workout begins! Your heart rate will rise. You will sweat. And you will become a badass.

The Implements

Strongman is its own strength sport, but you don’t have to compete to get all of the benefits of that style of training. The implements used in Strongman require full body coordination, making this form of training the best for developing functional strength.

Some of the key implements that you’ll use include the following:

  • Sandbags. As the weight shifts around inside the canvas, your body has to adjust on the fly, training all of the small muscles throughout the body that traditional barbells and dumbbells miss. We have an entire library of exercises that you’ll do to make sure that the whole body benefits.

  • Kegs. The keg is just massive and cumbersome and so your core has to work extra hard to stabilize it. We have kegs in a huge range of weights to make sure that even the newest of beginners can get a workout in.

  • Stones. What is a better demonstration of strength than lifting up a heavy stone? We have a number of stones in all sizes that we’ll use to bring out your inner badass. They are a staple in Strongman training for a reason.

  • Logs. If you want badass pressing power, you have to train with the log. Logs come in different sizes to accommodate different lifters. You start with a clean to train the lower body and upper back, then follow through with a big press to train your arms and shoulders.

  • Axles. The Axle is like a barbell, but better. The axle has a 2” diameter with no spinning collars, to test your grip as you pick it up and your stability as you press it. In build a Badass you’ll get to experience all sorts of exercises with the awesome implement.

  • Farmer’s Handles. The Farmer’s Handles offer two key exercises: The Deadlift and the Carry. These exercises are the ultimate in building a bullet proof athlete as they force the body to hold massive weights and coordinate all of the joints together.

What to Know

We’re keeping the class small. It’s only open to 9 athletes at a time, and that is 100% intentional. We want to make sure that you get the attention you need from the coach to make the absolute most of the workout. With too many athletes it is impossible to give cues and get form executed correctly.

You'll need to register 24 hours in advance. This gives our instructors an understanding of how many participants they’ll have so they can design the best workout possible.

Try to be there early! Classes will all start on time, and you don’t want to miss a minute.

If you end up unable to make it to class, you’ll need to cancel at least 24 hours in advance so that you don’t lose your class.

How to Register
